Class sizes vary depending on the course content. For theoretical courses, we typically admit a larger number of students. However, for courses involving demonstrations and practical exercises, we limit class sizes to ensure more personalized guidance from the trainers.
If you fail an assessment, you will be given a second chance to retake it. However, if you do not pass on the second attempt, no further opportunities will be provided.
Please be aware that for the Practicum and Supervision courses, a fee will be charged for a second attempt. This fee covers the additional time a supervisor will need to allocate for reassessment and guidance.
Supervision is an essential component of the training process for a Mindfulness Teacher-in-Training for several key reasons. It ensures that the trainees develop the necessary skills, knowledge, and personal qualities required to teach mindfulness effectively and ethically. Here are some of the primary reasons why supervision is necessary:
1. Skill Development: Supervision provides a structured and supportive environment where trainees can refine their teaching skills. This includes learning how to facilitate mindfulness practices, manage group dynamics, and respond to participants' needs during sessions.
2. Quality Assurance: Supervisors help ensure that the trainees are adhering to the established standards and methodologies of the mindfulness program they are learning to teach. This helps maintain the integrity and effectiveness of the mindfulness interventions.
3. Personal Practice Deepening: Supervision encourages and supports the deepening of the trainee’s own mindfulness practice. A strong personal practice is foundational for mindfulness teachers, as it enhances their ability to teach from direct experience and with authenticity.
4. Feedback and Reflection: Supervisors provide feedback on teaching practice, which is crucial for the learning process. They help identify strengths and areas for improvement, and they facilitate reflective practice, helping trainees to learn from their experiences.
5. Ethical Guidance: Mindfulness teaching can sometimes lead to complex situations, especially when participants experience strong emotions or psychological distress. Supervisors provide guidance on how to handle such situations ethically and effectively, ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants.
6. Emotional Support: Teaching mindfulness can be emotionally demanding. Supervisors provide emotional support, helping trainees to manage their feelings about the teaching process and to deal with any challenges that arise.
7. Professional Development: Supervision aids in the professional development of trainees by exposing them to a broader range of teaching scenarios and solutions. This prepares them for a variety of teaching contexts and participant needs.
8. Ensuring Adherence to Protocols: Supervisors ensure that trainees adhere to the protocols of the mindfulness program, which is especially important for programs that are evidence-based and require fidelity to specific methodologies.
9. Cultivating Teaching Presence: Beyond technical skills, teaching mindfulness requires the development of presence, compassion, and patience. Supervision helps cultivate these qualities, which are crucial for creating a supportive and respectful learning environment.
Yes, you will need to source your own participants for both group and individual coaching sessions during the practicum phases.
If you fail a practicum assessment, you will be given a second chance to retake it. However, a fee will be charged for a second attempt. This fee covers the additional time a supervisor will need to allocate for reassessment and guidance.
