Dr. Hernie Khames-Martin
(PhD, CMT-P)
Faculty | Therapist | Counsellor
Certified Mindfulness Teacher (CMT-P)
Psychotherapist
Professional Counsellor
Hernie has been practising mindfulness since 2012 and is an IMTA Certified Mindfulness Teacher – Professional (CMT-P). She is an educator and artist with a background in counselling, special education, and contemplative practice. Her professional journey spans in education, counselling, and mindfulness facilitation, reflecting a sustained commitment to creative expression and well-being.
Her experiences living, teaching, and working across different countries shaped her relationship with mindfulness. What began as a way of staying grounded through periods of transition gradually became a sustained personal practice and professional path. She approaches mindfulness not as a technique to be applied, but as a way of meeting experience with awareness, care, and inquiry.
Hernie holds a strong interest in intersubjective and relational awareness. She understands experience as something that unfolds within relationship, between self and other, and within shared spaces of learning. This perspective informs how she facilitates inquiry, emphasising attunement, presence, and an ongoing exploration of consciousness as it is lived and shared, rather than performance or outcome. Through teaching, facilitation, and creative practice, Hernie supports individuals and groups in cultivating presence, expression, and a more connected relationship with their moment-to-moment experience.
